The Ku-ring-gai Vacation Care service offers children aged 5-14 years a wide variety of arts, crafts, games, sports, excursions and educational experiences during the school holiday period in a safe, secure and caring environment with staff supervision at all times.

An opportunity exists for experienced School Holiday Program Assistants to join the Vacation Care service on a casual basis.

 

Reporting to the Vacation Care Coordinator, your duties will include, but are not limited to:

  • Assisting in the planning of the Vacation Care Program
  • Supervising, caring for and actively interacting with children in a range of activities
  • Providing support to children in a fun, creative and inspiring environment
  • Documenting children's play and learning.
  • Establishing relationships with families, the community, and local schools
  • Preparing and clearing away materials as directed

 

This is a great opportunity for a hands-on person who possesses the ability to work collaboratively in a varied team environment while maintaining the provision of consistent, high quality service delivery. This is also an excellent opportunity for primary and high school teachers / student teachers, and early childhood educators to implement play based learning.

 

To be considered for this role, you will require experience working with children in OOSH Service or Long Day Care. Experience providing age relevant activities and the ability to interact well with children and build positive relationships with families is also required.

 

A Working with Children clearance number is essential. If you are successful, you will need to obtain both a First Aid Certificate and the certificate of CHCPRT001 Identify and respond to children and young people at risk, at your own expense.
