  • Salary $105,353.04 - $122,208.84 p/a + super + leased back vehicle
  • Provide strategic advice on revenue and rates policy to executive level
  • Manage daily operations of the revenue accounting team

 

Located 16 kms north of the Sydney CBD, the Ku-ring-gai area covers 84km2, is home to 124,000 residents and is set in one of New South Wales' most attractive natural environments.

Council is currently seeking applications from suitably qualified professionals with relevant tertiary qualifications, or extensive experience in a similar role within Local Government, to lead a team of 4.

Reporting to the Manager Finance, your duties will include, but are not limited to:

  • Rates and Annual charges management – ensuring correct application of rates and charges in line with legislation
  • Effective management of Council's Debtors function
  • Formulation, maintenance and management of Council's fees and charges
  • Financial & Project Management including providing input in the preparation of Council's Annual Budget and Quarterly Budget Reviews
  • Revenue / Rates Systems Management including implementing and leading projects relating to enhancing current rates and revenue modelling

Required experience & skills:

  • Detailed knowledge and understanding of Local Government Act 1993 and other related legislation related to rating provisions
  • Demonstrated experience in Local Government financial systems (Technology One Property & Rating Software desirable), reporting & audit requirements
  • Sound up-to-date knowledge of accounting principles and in leading financial and systems related projects
  • Demonstrated experience in leading a cohesive team
  • Ability to develop, analyse, and disseminate rates and revenue reporting data
  • Ability to interpret and apply relevant legislation
  • Excellent financial, analytical and problem solving skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines

 This position is 35 hours per week with access to flexi time.
