Located 16 km's north of the Sydney CBD, the Ku-ring-gai area covers 84km2, is home to 124,000 residents and is set in one of New South Wales' most attractive natural environments.


Council is currently seeking applications from suitably qualified and experienced individuals for the role of Senior Landscape Assessment Officer.

Reporting to the Team Leader Landscape Assessment, your duties will include but are not limited to:

  • Participate in the integrated assessment of developmental proposals
  • Undertake landscape development assessment and other referral reports so that they are of a high quality, accurate, complete and consider all relevant legislative requirements
  • Provide high quality technical advice to Councilors, public and applicants in respect of landscape enquiries
  • Attend to public enquiries and provide specialist advice on landscape assessments and development control related matters
  • Investigate development assessment related complaints and respond to correspondence
  • Completing referral reports so that they are of a high quality, accurate, complete and consider all relevant legislative requirements
  • Undertake special projects and other duties as directed by the Manager or Team Leader, eg representing Council in court and attending development panel meetings
  • Mentoring and supervision of junior staff


Required Qualifications/Certificates:

  • Bachelor of Landscape Architectures or equivalent tertiary qualification
  • Current Class C driver's license


Required Experience/Skills:

  • Substantial experience in the field of Landscape Architecture
  • Demonstrated and substantial experience in development assessment and analysis
  • Knowledge of relevant State and Local Government Legislation
  • Thorough understanding of the principles of environmental related issues such as bushfire management, threatened ecological communities and riparian areas
  • High standard of written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent negotiation and conflict resolution skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
  • Time management skills
  • Computer Literacy
