  • Salary $67,492.88 – $78,291.20 p/a + super
  • Permanent full time role, 9 day fortnight

 

Located 16 kms north of the Sydney CBD, the Ku-ring-gai area covers 84km2, is home to 124,000 residents and is set in one of New South Wales' most attractive natural environments.

Council is currently seeking applications from suitably qualified and experienced persons for the role of Team Leader – Bushland Access. This position is responsible for supervising staff and assisting in undertaking the maintenance and construction of fire trails and walking tracks in accordance with Council's policies, guidelines and service levels. The position will also assist in bushfire hazard reduction activities.

Reporting to the Coordinator Bushland Services, your duties will include:

  • Undertake construction and maintenance of trails, tracks and associated earthworks, including concrete or earth swales, gutters, pools, silt fencing and sediment control
  • Carry out the removal and pruning of trees according to established specifications
  • Operation of plant and equipment, including excavators, rollers, forest mulchers, chainsaws, brush cutters, truck, trailer and other tools and equipment associated with fire trail and walking track construction and maintenance
  • Provide regular updates to Coordinator of Bushland Services regarding maintenance schedules and customer requests
  • Supervision of staff and contractors, liaising with the supervisor regarding staff issues and performance

 Success in the role requires:

  • Minimum 3 years demonstrated experience in the construction and maintenance of fire trails and walking tracks
  • Practical experience implementing the Rural Fire Service Fire Trails Standards 2017 and The Fire Trail Design, Construction and Maintenance Manual 2017
  • Ability to lead by example and ensure equal participation by all team members
  • Good written and verbal skills
  • Current MR Driver's licence
  • Chainsaw operator's certificate (level 1 & 2 cross cut and fell small trees)
  • Current White Card Certificate (CPCCWHS1001)
