Located 16 km's north of the Sydney CBD, the Ku-ring-gai area covers 84km2, is home to 124,000 residents and is set in one of New South Wales' most attractive natural environments.


Council is currently seeking applications from suitably qualified and experienced individuals for the role of Technical Officer Civil.


Reporting to the Coordinator Engineering Assets, your duties will include, but are not limited to:

  • Assisting the Coordinator Engineering Assets in maintaining and updating Council's Technology One Enterprise Asset Management module (EAM)
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of Councils Civil Works Maintenance and Asset Inspection Programs
  • Calculation of material quantitates and estimates for minor project work
  • Assist the Technical Services section in managing Customer Requests
  • Assist the Coordinator Engineering Assets in preparation of Specifications required to call for small tenders and quotes


Required Qualifications/Certificates:

  • TAFE Certificate in Civil Engineering (or near completion) or;
  • Equivalent experience in civil infrastructure maintenance and construction
  • Current C Class Licence
  • Work Cover WHS White Card
  • Confined Space Permit


Required Experience/Skills:

  • Knowledge of Local Government Engineering Operations and Infrastructure Assets
  • Demonstrated working knowledge and experience in a Roads Works Area
  • Previous experience in contractor supervision
  • Demonstrated knowledge of drainage, asphalt, concrete and general construction and maintenance techniques
  • Experience in the inspection of Council infrastructure assets
  • Experience in both Microsoft Office and customised software, spreadsheets and databases
  • Demonstrated understanding and application of EEO and WHS policies and guidelines
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team
  • Excellent customer service skills
