Located 16 km's north of the Sydney CBD, the Ku-ring-gai area covers 84km2, is home to 124,000 residents and set in one of New South Wales' most attractive natural environments.

Council is currently seeking applications from suitably qualified and experienced individuals for the role of Bushland Field Officer– Biodiversity Management. Supporting the Team Leader, this role will see you delivering Council's approved bush regeneration and pest species operational works program by completing tasks including bush regeneration, environmental monitoring, tree planting, weed control, and feral animal control. You will also have the opportunity to participate in hazard reduction burning activities subject to attaining the appropriate qualifications.

Required experience/skills:

  • Demonstrated experience in the maintenance and conservation of the natural environment in a similar role
  • Demonstrated experience in the implementation of bush generation and weed and vertebrate pest control
  • Ability to work independently or within a team and meet deadlines
  • Good written and verbal communication skills, including dealing with the public in a positive manner

Required Qualifications/Certificates:

  • Appropriate tertiary qualification, or equivalent experience, in natural area and bushland maintenance
  • Current First Aid Certificate or willingness to undertake training to obtain certificate
  • Current White Card Certificate or willingness to undertake training to obtain certificate
  • Current C-class Driver's licence
  • AQF3 Chemical Handling certificate or willingness to undertake training to obtain certificate
  • Chainsaw operator's certificate or willingness to undertake training to obtain certificate
  • Appropriate qualifications or willingness to undertake training to obtain qualification from a nationally recognised training provider relevant to bushfire management (eg. Rural Fire Service Bush Firefighter (BF) or NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service Crew Member qualification)
