Located 16 km's north of the Sydney CBD, the Ku-ring-gai area covers 84km2, is home to 124,000 residents and is set in one of New South Wales' most attractive natural environments.


Council is currently seeking applications from suitably qualified and experienced professionals for the role of Building Maintenance.


Reporting to the Building Asset Coordinator, your duties will include, but are not limited to:

  • Manage contractor based maintenance of Council's Building Works Program and reactive building maintenance
  • Work with maintenance contractors, building services staff and sustainability staff to ensure Council buildings operate in an energy efficient manner
  • Coordinate the certification process to ensure all annual inspections/testing for Council buildings are completed
  • Order materials and process invoices according to Council policy, adhering to corporate standards and procedures
  • Monitor and regularly review key register status for all Council owned buildings, compounds and gates
  • Control and actively participate in ensuring the administrative requirements of the Building Services section are completed
  • Assist the Building Asset Coordinator to overview and support operational activities on a weekly basis


Required Qualifications/Certificates

  • Building Trade Certificate
  • Associate Diploma in Building Science or equivalent
  • Current Class C Drivers Licence
  • Work-Cover WHS General Induction course (White Card)


Required experience/skills:

  • Working knowledge and experience in all aspects of the building industry
  • Experience in the operations of air conditioning, lift plant and equipment for commercial buildings
  • Knowledge of Australian Building Standards, Building Code of Australia for Buildings and essential services compliance regulations
  • Proven experience in the delivery of facilities contracts such as Cleaning, HVAC, Pest Control, Lifts, Fire Services, etc
  • Ability to interpret plans and specifications and prepare indicative estimates
  • Budget management experience
  • Effective communication and conflict resolution skills


This is a great opportunity for a hands-on person to work collaboratively in a team andcontribute to the development and maintenance of Council's Building Assets. 

This position is 35 hours per week with access to flexi time.
