Located 16 km's north of the Sydney CBD, the Ku-ring-gai area covers 84km2, is home to 124,000 residents and is set in one of New South Wales' most attractive natural environments.


Council is currently seeking applications from suitably qualified and experienced individuals for the role of Plant Operator – Road Services.


Reporting to the Supervisor Footpaths & Road Maintenance, your duties will include but are not limited to:

  • Operation of Council's Skidsteer loader to carry out general road, footpath and drainage construction and maintenance tasks
  • Interpretation of engineering plans and specifications
  • Contributing to the planning and approach of daily work tasks to ensure maintenance works are completed to required specification and timeframe
  • Identifying and report on WHS and environmental risks and hazards in the workplace and respond and report on all incidents
  • Operating and maintain plant in accordance with manufacturer's specifications and Standard Operating Procedures
  • Assessment and management of worksite traffic control, applying safety work standards and controls
  • Complying with procedures on environmental management practices


Required Qualifications/Certificate:

  • MR Drivers licence
  • WHS Construction Induction Certificate
  • Traffic Controller (RMS Blue card)
  • Apply Traffic Control Plans (RMS Yellow card)


Required experience/skills:

  • Demonstrated experience operating a Skidsteer loader
  • Knowledge of drainage maintenance and construction techniques
  • Previous experience working with asphalt, concrete and general construction maintenance techniques
  • Ability to undertake worksite risk assessments and complete work orders
  • Supervision and teamwork skills
  • Time management and scheduling skills
